2015 A to Z Challenge: Q is for qat, qi, cinq, qis

Words With Friends is a Scrabble-like game played on the internet.   On any given day I have four or five games going on.  I play with friends and a complete stranger named Chip.  I've been playing with Chip for several months and I know nothing about him, except he's never won a game he played with me.  I keep thinking that Chip will give up, but he keeps coming back for more.    In a game last week Chip was leading the entire game.  I thought he was finally going to win one.  Nope, I pulled off a win by 3 points.

I don't know why I continue playing the game.  I have anxiety every time I get a "Q."  I panic that I won't be able to play it and get stuck with a 10 pointer.  If I get a "U" and the "Q" hasn't been played, I'll hoard it just in case I get the "Q."  I usually wind up playing the favorite "Q" words:  qi, qat, and qis.  I have no idea what any of those words mean and I couldn't use any of them in a sentence, but they don't require a "U."

I also panic when I have a "V" or a "C."  I really dislike those letters.

These days my only stress is worrying about words.  It is good to be retired!

  1. I play WWF also and have my regulars. All people I know. My daughter decided to branch out and play with “strangers”. She plays through Facebook. I believe that when you play using your FB profile your opponent can find out some general info about you. Daughter is married with 3 kids. Her profile pic shows her and the three kids, (hubby was taking the pic so he’s not in it). One of her “strangers” chatted her during a game and said he thought he saw her in town, asked her, “Don’t you live on Maple?”. Kind of creepy.

  3. I have never played. Maybe I should; it might improve my vocabulary!

  4. Haven't played in years. My sister routinely beat me until one day I literally made up a word, divot. She challenged, I flung open the dictionary, and there it was.

  6. I play poker on line. Sometimes my computer crashes and I go ballistic. My wife asks what's wrong? "I just lost 2 million dollars in poker because this stupid computer lost connection." She reminds me gently, "You know it is not real money right?"

It is good to be retired.

  7. That's funny! I have heard of that online game but have resisted mightily because I know without a doubt I would be hooked. :-)
