A to Z 2016 Challenge: E Is For Eel Lake

EEECH!  E is for Eel Lake

Tuesday and Wednesday are our days off from the grueling work of being camp hosts, and they're not that much different from our work days, except we don't sell firewood and pick up litter.  On Tuesday we explored more of the Coos Bay area.  There are a lot of campgrounds and lakes in the area and we found several that we'd like to visit in the future.  We also went to the Coos History Museum and Maritime Collection and had a late lunch at the Mill Casino on the bay.

Tomorrow we are going back to Eel Lake to kayak.  I need to get in a little practice with the kayak before we venture into the ocean...even in our protected cove!

Note that the Eel Lake sign does not have any warnings about actual eels!

Look at that blue water and clear blue sky!  There was just a little wind to ripple the water.

The park must be busy in the summer because there is a huge parking lot, a playground, and picnicking facilities.

We hope for the same glorious weather on Wednesday!

  1. It looks like a beautiful, peaceful place. I would look up why that lake was named that before I dipped my toes in the water.

  2. You should have some great weather, although I'm not sure about your camping area. We've got mid- to high seventies on the way! :-)

  4. I'll have to go exploring one day. I've lived in the Portland area for almost eight years and have only be to the coast twice!

  6. The rippling blue of Eel River framed by the blackish green evergreens is amazing. Hope you enjoy the kayaking! An lol moment when you said no warnings about eels.
