All this month I am participating in the A to Z Challenge. I will write a new post every day, except for Sundays. Yesterday I started with A and today is B...and I'll keep writing until I get to Z. Although I don't have a theme, I expect I'll write about our experiences as camp hosts at Sunset Bay State Park.
It was a long drive to get Sunset Bay, but it was easy to follow the big shiny aluminum trailer.
Day one as a camp host was uneventful. We hung our sign at the entrance to our site.
Our ranger provided some orientation to our job duties. I don't think we will be overworked. We check sites after guests have left and pick up litter. We rake the holes in the lawn areas where guests have tried to back up their enormous RVs and failed to stay on the pavement, and we check rest rooms to make sure they are supplied with toilet paper and soap. In the middle of the week when the park isn't so busy we'll mow lawns. In the evenings we take turns with the other volunteers to sell firewood. There's a lot of time to enjoy the beauty of this area. It's nice to work with people who are enjoying themselves. People are friendly when they are on vacation.
Last night I walked down to the beach. I think I'm going to enjoy our time here.
Life is good when you're retired and at the beach!
This is SO wonderful, Jann. You are going to have a great time and share it with me during your mandatory (almost anyway) posts! :-) :-)

ReplyDeleteThat certainly looks like a lovely place to kick back and enjoy life's rewards (except for the chores).
ReplyDeleteSounds that it would be a wonderful place to enjoy...
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, it looks beautiful! Peaceful.
ReplyDeleteVery nice! We've been asked if we wanted to be camp hosts a couple of times, but haven't taken up the offer yet. I'm sure we will sometime though. It looks like you picked a great place to do it.
