WTF Wednesday: Didn't We Burn Our Bras in the Last Century?

WTF Wednesday is a semi-regular feature of this blog. It documents the things that have made me pause, slap my forehead and say "What the f**k!" Well, that and I just like saying WTF. I'm retired. I don't have to watch what I say anymore. I'm not any one's role model.

...and while the men and equipment are working the little women are all at home eating bonbons.

I passed this sign and the workers on my way to the freeway this morning.

In 2010 shouldn't these sexist signs be a thing of the past?

  1. I haven't seen one of those in a long time. Around here they usually say "ROAD WORK AHEAD," or something like that. And I have seen "PEOPLE WORKING" signs.
To be honest, I wouldn't mind being at home eating bonbons and letting the MEN WORK.

  2. Yes, this does seem to be a holdout sign from the old days. What about the female highway workers? I think they SHOULD be home eating bonbons, or whatever makes them happy. I'll bet you anything it's not standing there inhaling exhaust all day long.

  4. I look forward to having the freedom to say WTF sometime in the future! There is something freeing!

And my guess is, despite the sign, you almost never see EITHER men or equipment working.

  5. Funny! You should make your own signs that say "What the F*&K?" and be ready to post them beside signs like the one you photographed. Might make for a compelling campaign... (But it also could become a full-time job, and I'm guessing you're not looking for that!)
