Reflections on an Uninteresting Life

The spouse doesn’t read my blog.  I’m not sure if it’s because he isn’t interested or if it’s just that his technological skills haven’t advanced enough for him to be able to find it.  I expect, though, that he just prefers to be in denial.  So, last week he saw me chuckling at my computer screen and asked, “What’s so funny?”

“I wrote about your ear wax and I’m reading the comments from the readers.” I innocently replied.

“Well, THANK YOU for sharing my issues with the world.” (If we had a sarcasm font, that sentence would be in sarcasm bold!)  But, I like the idea that he believes that people the world over are waiting breathlessly to read my words.

Yesterday I told him I was going to write about his weekend project…I am not making this up; he says he is going to “organize my rock piles.”

“If your life is so uninteresting that you have to write about mine,” he tells me, “maybe you shouldn’t be writing a blog.”

Damn, I hate it when he’s right!

  1. Don't leave us hanging....will he share the finished project?

  2. I read my blog entries to my husband. He's usually interested. But otherwise it would never occur to him.

  3. My partner reads mine, too, and a few others (not many). But he's asked me not to share private things so I don't (usually). Gotta go back and read the ear wax one, I must have missed it! :-)

  4. I didn't miss it, but I did enjoy the comments. I was just too early to enjoy them (being first and all).

  5. My husband does not read my blog and I like it that way! If he read it he would have to be a critic and then he'd tell me what I should or should not write about and how I should or should not write about it! I enjoy your blog, by the way -- love your sense of humour and the absurd...

  6. There is a Sarcasm font. However, it's been suggested that the symbol ` can be used to bracket the statement with the same effect.

My better half reads my blog. That in and of itself keeps the filter working almost all of the time. She does not, however, read many of the blogs on which I comment. So my mind... well, I'm sure you get the idea.

  8. Oh tell 'im t'g't over 'imself.
Husband fell across Aging Gratefully one day. I don't know if he reads it faithfully now or not. I think I prefer not knowing.
On the other hand, I could give him little slaps upside the head couldn't I....and remain innnocent-faced.

  9. Ha, you could write a post every day about your conversations!

  10. Yes, I'm with Friko! I get a huge kick out of your conversations. My husband doesn't read mine either. I don't think he would be interested, and as long as he doesn't, it seems freeing, somehow. But, my daughters both do, so I sometimes feel I have to be a little more careful with my words!

I love your blog posts. You always have plenty of interesting things to write about!

  13. You must factor in the strange fact that bloggers actually LOVE posts about ear wax and reorganizing rock piles. We share some weird gene for vicarious experience. We're life trollers, minutiae metal detectors. We're a neighborhood.
