Which one of these animals doesn't belong?
A |
B |
C |
D |
Last week I was in Austin, Texas visiting my grandchildren, Megan and Hunter. During the day while Megan was in kindergarten, Hunter and I read books, took walks to the park, and occasionally watched TV. You can learn quite a lot watching Sesame Street. The pictures above are similar to the ones shown on the program. Let’s see how well you can do on this learning experience…
Which one doesn’t belong? If, like me, you answered C, you would be wrong. Thank goodness I didn’t answer out loud and humiliate myself in front of Hunter. I’m thinking, well, the tiger, the dog and the donkey all have four legs and they’re mammals…so it must be C, the dolphin.
WRONG! Sesame Street says the answer is A, the tiger.
The tiger???
WTF???
Then the voice of Sesame Street goes on to say “Tiger starts with T. Dog, dolphin and donkey all start with D. So, tiger doesn’t belong."
The day was off to a bad start when I couldn’t answer Sesame Street questions correctly. I guess I can forget about being smarter than a 5th grader…I’m still working at the pre-K level.
Fear not, Nana, your answer was quite correct. One might even have said tiger on the grounds that it is an endangered species. The production team should have taken more care in the selection of their four pictures so as to avoid ambiguity.
ReplyDeleteWell, I answered C too. Those Sesame guys just loving tripping up all us adults. LOL. I'm glad that you had a nice visit with your grandchildren.
ReplyDeleteHah! What does Sesame Street know? It depends on how you are looking at these things, Nana. But it's a good thing you didn't say it out loud! :-)
ReplyDeleteDid Hunter get the right answer?
ReplyDeleteNow wait. Just because C. isn't the right answer doesn't mean that it is wrong. It's just not right. I imagine one of the show's sponsors was the letter D.. That should have been your clue?
ReplyDeleteAnyhow, I'd have picked C. on several counts: hairless, different color, almost monochrome, action picture and so on
I picked 'c' also. I guess I needed to know they were looking for sounds or letters not species. How funny this is. I think this just show that too much information is not always best.
ReplyDeleteYou are right WTF??? I think I would be too dumb to be a kid again!!!
ReplyDeleteThat's what I call kids' logic. If only life were that simple!
ReplyDeleteThat is too funny. Like you, I guessed C.
ReplyDeleteI gussed C too! Trick question!
ReplyDeleteUm yeah, I too went with C. It had nothing to do with the first letter of the name though and everything to do with the fact that the rest of them have legs and live on land. Uh-huh. Sesame Street was definitely stretching with this association. So glad I don't have kids, educational programming has obviously been greatly impacted with the introduction of the Backyardigans and Baby Einstein.
ReplyDeleteIt should have been D. A, B and C were drawings and D was a photo. Someone really needs to talk to the producers about that.
ReplyDeleteI picked the dolphin, too. Dang! Maybe it's something about our age?
