This past week I've only "written" in my head and nothing has been very interesting. Two or three sentences about spring gardening and another few on signs of spring in Hermiston. The narrative about buying kettle corn at the craft show put me right to sleep. Even if I had that interface that directly connected my brain to my computer, there wouldn't be anything worth reading.
What exactly are the signs of spring in Hermiston, you ask?
- The buckets holding bunches of daffodils have shown up in the aisle by the deli at Safeway, a sure sign that spring is near.
- We don't have a Cherry Blossom Festival in Hermiston, but the ten trees that encircle RiteAid are in full cotton candy colored bloom.
I've been surfing a lot of blogs and I can't even find inspiration to leave comments. What do you do to keep the words flowing? Is it possible that I've used up everything worth saying? There must be a limit to the number of times I can write about cleaning out my closets. Hopefully by tomorrow I'll come up with a better topic or I'll be sharing more closet details.
I often find myself in your position. Perhaps you are suffering the effects of this cold rainy March.
ReplyDeleteYou are suffering the effects of trying to force what is not there. Relax. When there is something inside that demands to be heard you will do the natural thing. You own this blog. It doesn't own you.
ReplyDeleteWell, I was thinking about you while I was cooking dinner tonight. I wondered how you were doing. I've missed you.
ReplyDeleteBruce is right though. Sometimes, we just don't have anything to say. The day the blog becomes one more thing I have to do is the day I quit blogging.
Now that I have three blogs, I have three times the pressure. However, if nothing comes, nothing comes. Just chill, eh, go out and check those signs of spring hidden from most people.
ReplyDeleteGood to know you're still there, but don't force it.
ReplyDeleteYeah.
ReplyDeleteMe too.
Some folks, even when they've nothing to say, say it anyway. I think maybe I am one of them.
ReplyDeleteI have those moments often. I think that's why I go with my random posts lately. It's tough to think of something new. Sometimes just an observation or two gives me a little something to write about.
ReplyDeleteI was in that same place a few months ago. Be patient...it will pass. :)
ReplyDeleteGot my popcorn, got my Diet Coke, ready to bloat my brains out while cruising my favorite blogs, dropping bon mots as I go. And, voila, you have read my mind. Same thing happens to me all the time. Just proves we're addicted to this deeply rewarding and relatively harmless hobby...well, harmless except for my growing resemblance to the Goodyear Blimp.
ReplyDeleteI get writer's block when there are TOO MANY things swarming my brain. If I have to stop blogging to do something boring, like clean out a closet (which I just finished), I lose my thoughts. Or the timeliness of the subject fades, Or I just plain can't remember the topic anymore. I'm so freakin' frustrated, I can't write at all.
I love your solution: that notepad thingie is cool!
Sometimes a break is the only thing that works. If you make that moody muse think you don't care any more, she usually wakes right up.
ReplyDeleteI could have written this word for word every day for the past half a year! Couldn't identify more :-) But I do love the randomness that came out of your lack of inspiration. I love cherry trees so truthfully that was interesting to read! As far as commenting goes that's also why I've been silent lately, I laugh, cry, nod but can't think of anything good to say in response. Oh well. If it makes you feel any better you can count on me sticking around to read whatever you have to say whenever the inspiration happens to hit. Sometimes we all just need a break! :-)
ReplyDeleteThere are always more words. They'll arrive. Don't worry.
